C.O.M.B.O. Grappler

The C.O.M.B.O. Grappler is an accessory that assists your C.O.M.B.O.s - especially Extensions - to help keep them stabilized during gameplay.

Overview

The C.O.M.B.O. Grappler installs around your C.O.M.B.O., inside of your controller, to keep it in place. This is helpful for two things: 1) to ensure that your C.O.M.B.O. properly fits in nearly any arcade controller case, and 2) to prevent your C.O.M.B.O. Extension from spinning freely.

This is still a product-in-development, so we are looking for feedback and we expect to make changes in the future. Once we are fully comfortable with the Grapplers, we will provide an update on them as a separate product - especially for those who have already purchased Hit Box ULTRAs and C.O.M.B.O. Extensions.

Installation

In order for the C.O.M.B.O. Grappler to work as intended, your C.O.M.B.O. Button or Extension needs to already be installed into your arcade controller. Once your C.O.M.B.O. is installed then you can install the Grappler properly.

1 - Remove wiring

Disconnect the wires from the C.O.M.B.O. terminals.

Note: if you have a COMBO Extension, then you must also disconnect the signal wire from the Terminal Block.

2 - Proper Orientation

Before placing the Grappler around the COMBO, ensure two things.

First, that your C.O.M.B.O. is in the rotation and orientation that you want. After installation of the Grappler your C.O.M.B.O. will not be able to spin as easily as before so it may be good to ensure that the orientation of your C.O.M.B.O. is where you want it.

Second, that the Grappler has the proper orientation: the Grappler Tabs should be on the far side of the Grappler in relation to the C.O.M.B.O.

3 - Place the Grappler around the COMBO

Line up the 'gap' in the Grappler with the tabs on the side of the COMBO.

4 - Click into place

Push the Grappler toward the COMBO and then ensure that the Grappler Tabs click into place.

5 - Reconnect the wiring

Once the Grappler clicks into place with both Tabs, then reconnect the wires to the terminals.

Note: if you have a C.O.M.B.O. Extension then you can now connect the signal wire to the Terminal Block.

With the Grappler on your C.O.M.B.O. and all of the wiring reconnected your Grappler is fully installed!

Removal

1 - Remove wiring

Disconnect the wires from the C.O.M.B.O. terminals.

Note: if you have a COMBO Extension, then you must also disconnect the signal wire from the Terminal Block.

2 - Release Grappler Tabs

Next, press the Grappler Tabs out away from the C.O.M.B.O while simultaneously lifting the Grappler away from the C.O.M.B.O.

Tips:

  • It may be easier to do one Grappler Tab at a time.
  • A flat-head screwdriver (or an equivalent tool) will be helpful as well.

3 - Lift the Grappler from the C.O.M.B.O.

4 - Reconnect the Wiring

If you are not installing another Grappler, then reconnect the wires to the terminals.

Note: if you have a C.O.M.B.O. Extension then you can now connect the signal wire to the Terminal Block.
