Smash Box is a controller and project that is very dear to us. It was our first step into one of our favorite competitive fighting games and our first crowd-funded project. Thanks to those initial supporters, we were able to make an impact on the Smash community and the arcade controller industry that is still felt today - and something we are incredibly proud of. The community that has grown around the Smash Box is an enthusiastic and creative group of people that we treasure greatly.
We want to continue to support the community. And we want to continue to develop and produce the Smash Box. However, it has been difficult to do both of those. From massive increases in material costs and goods becoming completely unavailable, to rulesets that fundamentally change how the Smash Box would work, to a shift in our own production and business direction, it has been challenging to produce the Smash Box in its current state.
Moving forward the project known as "Smash Box" will go into the dark. What you know as the Smash Box now is discontinued. We will continue to provide support to all Smash Box customers for the foreseeable future, including working with community members to ensure users get the support they need and releasing any backlog (remastered) content for the controller.
Our goal is to have the Smash Box live on - what it does and what it stands for - in the future. We do not know exactly what that will look like but we are excited to see what that future holds.
We want to thank all of our Smash Box customers for your support and thank you again to all of the Kickstarter backers of the Smash Box for helping us make the controller something real. Without you all, this would have been nothing.
