SOCD Resolution Settings on Cross|Up

With its ease of access to multiple direction types at once and all-button design on the right hand, SOCDs are a very important aspect of playing fighting games on the Cross|Up.

Using the Designer SOCD Resolution settings will help you get the most out of the Cross|Up.

Before you continue, be sure you have the Cross|Up Designer Software: Downloads Page

Changing SOCD Resolution Settings

To change the SOCD Resolution, first select the Profile Slot of the Profile you wish to edit by using the drop-down menu in the top-left of the Designer.

Once you have the correct Profile to edit, then select the "SOCD" settings menu on the right side of the Designer.

The Profile Settings menu window will open and provide you the SOCD Resolution settings to choose from.

Select the setting that best fits your needs - for more information, read through the "SOCD Resolution Details" section below.

Once selected, exit out of that window and now you can save the settings to your Cross|Up! Use our Loading and Saving guide for more help.

Per-Axis Resolutions

You can also choose which SOCD Resolutions you want for each axis. If you want Last Input Priority for Left and Right but Up Priority for Up and Down, then you can select that with the extra SOCD settings.

Select "Show More Settings."

Once the addition menu has come up, choose what best fits your needs. Note that these options act the same other options, but are only applied to the specific axis you choose.

Once selected, exit out of that window and now you can save the settings to your Cross|Up! Use our Loading and Saving guide for more help.

SOCD Resolution Details

For more info on SOCDs, check out our blog post: What is an SOCD?

Classic Hit Box

This is the default option in the Cross|Up. Essentially, it does what the Hit Box does.

  • Up + Down = Up
  • Left + Right = Neutral
    • However, if there are more of one direction than the other, then that direction will be output.
    • For example, if are inputting Left-Stick Left, DPad Left, and DPad Right, the Cross|Up will output Left.

True Neutral

Provides Neutral in all directions every time there is an SOCD.

  • Up + Down = Neutral
  • Left + Right = Neutral

First Input Priority

The first cardinal direction activated will be prioritized as long as it is active - the most recent cardinal direction will never be output as long as the first cardinal is active.

This can be very useful for charge partition characters in fighting games and retro games where you are typically holding Right most of the time to progress.

  • Up -> Up + Down = Up
  • Right -> Right + Left = Left

Last Input Priority

Outputs the most recent cardinal direction that was activated.

Very good for charge characters in fighting games.

  • Up -> Up + Down = Down
  • Right -> Right + Left = Left

Natural (Like Gamepad)

Removes the ability for Cross|SOCDs - SOCDs that between separate direction types, such as Left Stick and DPad.

Also sets the SOCD for each direction type to Neutral.

  • Left Stick Up + DPad Down = Both Left Stick Up & DPad Down are output
  • DPad Left + DPad Right = Neutral
